Mentor Coaching With Openness, Not Dogma

Ten hours in a small group. Built around real coaching, not required compliance.

Who this is for

This is for coaches who've been at this a while. You already know your clients are better served by what you actually do in the room than by any framework on a page, but you also haven't thrown out the framework. You're not here because someone told you the ICF competencies are the only right way to coach. You're here because the spirit behind them, structuring a session in service of the client, still appeals to you in some way.

You don't need to believe the ICF is beyond criticism to belong here. You do need to trust your instincts and want a place to sharpen them further.

If you're renewing an ACC credential, this fully satisfies ICF's 10-hour mentor coaching requirement.

If you hold a PCC, you'll receive 10 hours of CCE toward your next renewal. Coaches stepping up from ACC to PCC are welcome here too.

What this is

  • Total program time: 10 hours

  • Group work: 7 hours across 5 Zoom sessions (Fridays from January through April), with a group of 5-10 coaches

  • Individual work: 3 hours with me on Zoom, calibrated to exactly where you are

  • A strictly optional review of a client recording if you choose to submit one

What this feels like

Each session opens with a short conversation about one or two of the ICF Core Competencies:

  • What it actually means, and feels like, in practice

  • Where it feels solid for you

  • Where it feels shaky

From there, we riff. We watch a live demo and talk about what's actually happening in the coaching, not just whether it checks a box.

This isn't a teacher-student experience. What you get instead is a room full of carefully chosen peers thinking out loud together, with me guiding rather than lecturing.

The arc

(All times ET)

The first and last sessions (January 15 and April 16) are where the group actually comes together and where we close the arc out. Please make sure both dates work before enrolling.

  • Getting oriented, and establishing agreements: what real agreement looks like when it's a living conversation, not a scripted opening line. Friday, January 15, 1 - 3 p.m.

  • Cultivating trust and maintaining presence: what can't be faked in a coaching relationship, and what quietly wears it away. Friday, February 5, 1 - 2 p.m.

  • Listening actively: hearing what's actually being offered, not just what's easiest to respond to. Friday, February 26, 1 - 2 p.m.

  • Evoking awareness: the questions and observations that open something up, rather than close it down. Friday, March 19, 1 - 2 p.m.

  • Facilitating growth, and where you go from here: protecting an insight long enough for it to become something real. Friday, April 16, 1 - 3 p.m.

Woven through these five sessions are your three individual hours with me, scheduled to points that make sense for you:

  • Early on, to get calibrated to exactly where you are

  • Midway through, to go deeper on whatever's actually alive in your practice

  • Near the end, to bring it all together

What I won't do to you

Real talk on a couple of things?

I know recordings make people uncomfortable. Submitting your own coaching for review can feel exposing, even among peers, even when it's genuinely useful. So it's entirely optional here. If it's not for you, that's fine. You'll still get everything you came for.

And when I say ten hours, I mean ten hours. I've sat through programs that called something a two-hour module and later asked for three or four hours of prep and reflection on top of it. That's not what happens here. What's asked of you, in and out of session, is disclosed before you enroll, so there are no surprises three months in.

Why me

I'm a PCC-credentialed coach who recently submitted my MCC application, with more than 2,600 hours of coaching experience across more than 300 clients in 8 years. I serve as a Learning Circle Advisor and certified PCC Assessor for Georgetown University's ICF accredited coach training program, and I recently completed my own Mentor Coach Specialization, a credential ICF now requires of anyone doing this work at Georgetown. That process put me back in the room as a participant, not just an evaluator. I built this program with that recent experience in mind.
